Is it just me, or is GPS arrival time a personal challenge?
If Waze or Google Maps says I’ll arrive in 1 hour and 15 minutes, I’m determined to make it in 1 hour and 14 or less. Maybe it’s in my DNA? My dad’s hobby is racing cars; my grandmother was a fiercely competitive tennis player, and then there is my brother. We were in a car together recently and typed in our destination, and he casually said, “We can beat that time.” I burst out laughing. He, too, has the game-on mentality with GPS.
It got me thinking…
As job seekers, professionals, and leaders, we all have natural tendencies. Some of us are wired for speed, others for precision, creativity, or connection. The real question is: Are you in a role that complements your natural wiring or competes with it? If your work feels like a constant uphill battle, maybe it’s not you. Maybe it’s the fit. And maybe it’s time to rethink where your strengths can shine brightest. When your role aligns with who you are, you don’t just beat the clock; you enjoy the ride.
